A year ago I had rotor cuff surgery and have done everything necessary for recovery. I am a 43 year old male who occasionally has to do some form of lifting from time to time and I'm finding that my shoulder is not what I had expected it to be after surgery. After another check with the doctor everything seems fine but I'm not really satisfied with the results from all of the work done. I still have aching pain and almost to the bone type of pain feeling in my shoulder. The doctor did explain that by the time I am 50 I will probably need a new shoulder through replacement. If the pain persists should I consider possibly doing the replacement earlier?

The worst pain during the day tends to be when she gets in the car and drives home after her shift. Any idea why that particular movement causes her pain, and any tips on what she can do, perhaps a wear a brace etc?

Can you suggest ways for me to al get into the pool at the gym, knowing that they don't have an handicap ramp and that it would be too sleepery to use my crutches? Thank you very much.

I am a young adult and my knees really hurt when I walk around the grocery store or a shopping mall. Could this be because I have little cartilage in my knees?

Hello: I am a mid 40's male who fell in July. I fractured my left ankle in three places and my right hip in two places. I had surgery right away to fix these fractures. After 7 weeks I am walking on my ankle with no problems or pain. However, I am at week 10 of my hip surgery and still can only put partial weight on that hip. Is it odd to have to wait so long for my hip to heal but my ankle is fine?

I am 44 and have been suffering severe low back pain since my early 20s. It has gotten so bad that I can not stand still for even a few minutes or it becomes excruciating. It is constantly there but the more activities I do, the more it hurts. I have had many tests and tried pt numerous times with no relief. The only diagnosis I have ever gotten is spasms. Is that possible for 25 years or is there an underlying cause?

I've had two surgeries on my left outer ankle for ruptured tendon. It's never gotten better just worst. It's huge and swollen and very painful to walk. This has been going on for over a year now. It all started out with a lump that would go under my bone when i walked n hurt. So when the surgeon went in to remove the lump which turned out to be a cyst she said she wasn't expecting to see a ruptured tendon. So that was the excuse as to why my ankle was still swollen n painful. So another surgery to clean out the ruptured tendon. She said the synovium was so inflamed it was a deep red. A yr later n my ankle is huge n swollen still. I got a pathology report that said extremely red and inflamed synovium and some other things i dont understand. So do you think i still have tendonitis?
-
I also have a couple autoimmune disorders. Arthritic lupus and sarcoidosis. I have other things with my health as well.
-
Can it be the diseases themselves causing the tendonitis? Because my other ankle is swollen n painful too, just not as bad as my left.
-

The number of joint replacements is increasing and the age of the patients is changing. We are doing joint replacements on patients in their 40's and patients in their 90's. If your health is good and you want to improve the quality of your life by being able to do things that hip or knee pain is currently keeping you from doing please consider talking with an Orthopedic Surgeon about a joint replacement.

A few years ago, I twisted my ankle when I tripped over a pothole. Then 2 days later although it was still sore, I ran a 5k. Until this day, my ankle is so tight and sometimes when I run a pain radiates up my leg. Do you think this is due to the injury?
-
I have RA and last year I was having problems with my right elbow. I had a doctor to give me a cortisone injection and I have been having problems using it every since. I have taken RA medicines and nothing seems to help. Every once in a while, I have absolutely no pain in the arms as if I was miss diagnosed. I really believe it is somewhat similar to bursitis if not something else.
