Fellowship Trained Glaucoma and Cataract Surgeon
Virginia Eye Consultants -
I am a board certified fellowship trained glaucoma specialist specializing in all aspects of glaucoma and cataract surgery. I pride myself in educating my patients about glaucoma so that they can in turn be advocates for helping to take part in saving their sight. I also enjoy staying on the cutting edge through research and latest technology such as new glaucoma medications and surgical treatments. Currently we are enrolling patients at Virginia Eye Consultants with several FDA approved clinical trials to help with furthering glaucoma treatment. Also I would like to allow patients to know that there are many more options for glaucoma treatment other than drops, such as minimally invasive glaucoma surgery that is very easily coupled with cataract surgery to help control the eye disease and reduce the needs for drops.

I have been checked for eye pressure. 6 months ago, 24, 21. I was checked again last week, 20 24. Doctor wants to see me in 6 months to recheck. He said taking drops at this point is up to me but it is a gray area. He looked at back of eye for optic nerve damage. Said it looked ok for the most part. I am 58. What are you thoughts about pressures?

Thanks for the answer below, but how about some type of exercises to strengthen those muscles or something? Is that possible? Seems like I could improve the time it takes me to look far after I've been looking close?

I was diagnosed and treated for glaucoma for more than 10 years. Then I changed docs and was told I did not have it. I hav ocular hypertension. I now have no insurance and it's been 9 years since my pressures were checked. Is there a program any where I can get the pressure check? I am not worried about the regular eye exam. I had one of those thru Park Place in connection with the Lions club. I have been retired on disability since 2003 and get very little money. Any advice you can give me would be greatly appreciated since I've been having blurry vision for about 9 months now.
Thank you. -
