My biggest fear about having surgery is blood clots...is there anything that can be done prior to surgery, to help prevent the likelihood of having them?

I heard that there is a problem with hair loss after weight loss surgery. Does this happen to everyone, and what causes this to happen?
-
After the surgery, will I ever be able to drink a glass of wine? I haven't read anything about an occasional alcoholic beverage.
-
This is certainly a real worry. However, we do many treatments around surgery to prevent blood clots such as blood thinners, compression stocking and encouraging walking as soon as possible after surgery. The risk of blood clots is <1%.

Regarding hair loss, this may happen due to the stress of surgery. You need to make sure you are getting in adequate amount of high quality protein.
